Doctor Recommended It for Trauma

My psychiatrist wants me to try EMDR for my car accident trauma and said it's generally safe. But I'm still nervous because I don't know what could go wrong. Anybody know where I can read about is EMDR therapy safe, overall safety, when it's safe, risks when improperly administered? I need to feel confident before starting treatment.

I totally understand being cautious. After a serious car accident, my neighbor was recommended EMDR and had the same worries about safety. She spent a lot of time researching before starting and found EMDR therapy how many sessions does it take  useful because it explains when EMDR is generally considered safe, why working with a properly trained therapist matters, and what risks can come up if it's done incorrectly. From her experience, the toughest part was temporarily revisiting difficult memories, but having a skilled therapist made a big difference. Reading up on the process beforehand helped her feel much more comfortable going into treatment.
