RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

CRU-TECH logo

Our Teams’ Research and Development is focused on solving problems in the real world of paint lines and government regulations. The typical corporate approach of trying to influence the paint customer to use an existing paint or paint system is no longer an adequate solution for many companies.

Most of Continental Products’ paints are custom-designed to fit the exact requirements of our customers’ specifications and paint lines. That’s because we keep our avenue of research as open as possible by not imposing strict limits on their raw material choices.

This open-ended approach, along with the creativity of our chemists, has yielded breakthrough paint technologies that will fit your demanding production requirements.

CRU-TECH CORE TECHNOLOGIES

CRU SHIELD logo
CRU THANE logo
This high build, two-component urethane system features the highest levels of gloss and color retention, maximum corrosion resistance (surpasses 2,000 in salt spray) excellent adhesion, outstanding resistance to chemicals, abrasion and thermal shock. Quick Dry, low VOC.

2K ACRYLIC URETHANE

TWO COMPONENT URETHANES

Two-component urethanes with outstanding corrosion
resistance (1,000 hours in salt spray), excellent
adhesion, gloss and color retention. Outstanding
resistance to chemicals and abrasion. Ultra
quick dry and low VOC.

WE ARE PROBLEM SOLVERS

Our customers depend on Continental Products to diagnose and find solutions to their Industrial Paint needs and problems whether those needs entail compliance challenges, application issues, production line difficulties or field performance deficiencies.

Continental's customer-driven approach (P.A.I.N.T.S) has yielded flexible paint solutions for its clients with paint formulations that are adapted to meet specific and often complex coating requirements.

When designing a paint for a customer, it is standard for our chemists to create a series of formulation ladders to determine performance and cost parameters.

Coating Salt Spray Corrosion Test

EXAMPLE #1: SALT SPRAY TESTING

Above is a salt spray/corrosion test series of "scribed" metal panels using the same backbone paint chemistry, but with different modifications in order to determine the best formulation for the customer.

EXAMPLE #2: WATERBORNE TECHNOLOGY

This is a waterborne coating we developed for an automotive customer who switched to this custom formulated coating after seeing the incredible 1000 hour salt spray results.

Note the scribe line and the extraordinary performance achieved with our waterborne technology.

EXAMPLE #3 REAL WORLD TESTING

Here we have an example of a formulation being developed for a customer tested over scribed cast iron panels. These panels were subjected to 504 hours salt spray

EXAMPLE #4 SALT SPRAY VERSUS COMPETITION

Here is a cyclic salt spray at 360 hours; 2 CPC formulations tested.

Here is an example of competitor's paint enduring the same 360 hour cyclic salt spray over the same part as our formulations in the photo left of this photo.

With high performance results, the customer switched to CPC Products.
