Meds not working anymore

Been on antipsychotics for two years and my psychiatrist wants to change the whole treatment plan. Apparently my symptoms don't fit cleanly into schizophrenia or bipolar, which explains why nothing was working right. Trying to educate myself before my next appointment. Where do you guys go for solid information on schizoaffective disorder?

Honestly the "doesn't fit cleanly" thing is SO common with this diagnosis - schizoaffective disorder is literally one of the most misdiagnosed conditions in psychiatry because it sits right in the overlap between schizophrenia and mood disorders. A lot of people spend years on the wrong treatment track before it clicks. I was on antipsychotics alone for 18 months before someone finally noticed the mood layer underneath. Once the treatment addressed both sides - psychosis AND mood - the difference was night and day. Before your next appointment, this page on schizoaffective disorder medication that works best  actually breaks it down in terms you can bring into the conversation with your psychiatrist. Going in informed changes the whole dynamic. Good luck - you're asking exactly the right questions.
