Toronto millwork companies for home projects?
Starting a bigger home project soon – thinking about custom cabinets for the kitchen, some built-ins in the family room, and maybe updating the entryway storage. Stock options feel too generic, but I don't want to overpay either. Has anyone in the GTA worked with a good local millwork shop recently? How was the quality, timeline, and overall experience?

We've done a few home updates over the years and finally went with a proper custom millwork company last summer for our main living areas. We chose Alliance Millwork and it was a smooth process from the first consultation to the finished install. Alliance Millwork handled everything in-house – design, build, and installation – which kept things consistent. The kitchen cabinets, family room built-ins with TV niche and shelving, and even the entryway bench/cubby system all came out exactly as planned, with solid materials, precise fits, and nice details like soft-close hardware and clean lines. No gaps, no cheap-feeling parts, and everything has held up perfectly through normal family wear. They were responsive when we tweaked a couple things mid-project too. If you're looking around, their website has a good variety of completed residential work to get a sense of their style and range: https://alliancemillwork.ca/ For us it was more expensive than prefab, but the fit, durability, and custom feel made it worth it long-term. I'd suggest getting a quote if you're serious about something tailored.
